Verified Reviewer |Destroyed Truck
**Terrible Experience with Maaco!**
I had the misfortune of taking my car show truck that I kept in tiptop condition to Maaco where the first paint job wasnt properly done and their so called revision was supposed to take a month max to fix. They kept my truck for 7 months when I was told they would take one month!!!
Poor communication , delay tactics ,unprofessional handling , unethical practices and absolutely no quality service control is evident .
First off, they returned my truck with dead batteries where it no longer runs and with an outrageous amount of damage. The wheels were covered in overspray, the grill was glued on, and there were spots where the paint was already falling off. Its as if they treated my truck like a used rag instead of a vehicle. They even left someones drug test results in my glove compartment !!
Communication? Forget it.
I tried reaching out multiple times to Steve Blank and Rick Briggs directly, but they completely ignored my calls and texts. When I finally demanded a refund and compensation for the damages, they went totally silent and gaslighted me instead of doing the ethical and right thing.
To top it all off, they took the bed of my truck apart and ripped off all the electrical wires underneathnow my truck won't even move! They returned it with damaged taillights, headlights, mirrors scratched, tint damage by removing glass, fried module so much to list the pictures am showing are nothing to the damages a ruined headliner, and even some of my programming equipment was stolen and 100 more problems with my truck. We have videos and pictures before this truck left our home to head over to that location on top of videos and pictures from the freight company that took my truck and brought it back.
This was a warranty second paint job since the first paint job was falling off and clear fading from clear to yellow.
They completely refused to have another Maaco location working into my truck and they force my to send my truck back to Plano location from San Antonio/Mcallen TX area.
I regret not checking online reviews before bringing my vehicle here the firet time. If you care about your truck or vehicle do yourself a favor and look at the photos of the mess they left behind before considering this location.
They refuse to address any of these issues, and Im left with a broken vehicle and no resolution in sight. Avoid Maaco at all costs!
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Never ever take your vehicle to maaco Plano Tx Location

Verified Reviewer |Unsatisfied job
I wanted to fix a little corrosion issue in both rear quarters of my 1999 Corolla. Now, I have to repaint the entire car due to a very poor and unprofessional job.
They promised a quality job that was not delivered as promised. I feel fooled! I feel the manager is taking advantage of me because I am Latino! The masking and finishing is very poor, and some of the original car body designs were erased!
Also, because they had to paint the entire quarter panel, my car now has mismatched colors. They are supposed to be color experts, and should have faded the color to match the rest of the car. I also wanted my front bumper painted, and they didn't even remove a piece of black tape on the bumper—they just painted around it! Unbelievable!
However, the paint job looks good, but the body job was very poor and I need them to fix it!
They need to correct the color of the entire car! They should cover 100 percent of the rental car costs that I will incur until my car is fixed satisfactorily.
User's recommendation: be cautious and do not pay untill you are completely satisfied. make them to do an inventory of all your scratches because my car got 2 very visible scratches there in there garage and they are denying it,.!!

Verified Reviewer |Damage exceeding $10k (Including labor)
Had a terrible experience at this location in Tacoma, WA located at 3502 S Pine St. I brought my 2022 Honda CR-V to them for a full body paint including 4 door jambs.
I brought my car there on Monday August 5th on the premise it would be back to me by Friday that week. A week passed and they gaslit me and told me they never said that and it would be another week. That full second week they kept telling me they were prepping the door jambs, but it was apparent they were starting to become increasingly irritated and short tempered for me repeatedly calling to check the progress. That second Friday they tried telling me it was complete and ready for pickup.
When I arrived to pick up the vehicle I did a walk around and was extremely disappointed to see how terrible of a job they did. There was overspray EVERYWHERE, lumps under the paint, things were painted that shouldnt have been (hinges, door seals, trim etc. There were many spots that were uneven from how they taped it off and the whole car had this. There were many spots that still showed the old vehicle color, and the clear coat layer felt uneven around the whole vehicle.
I told them they needed to fix these things and left it with them until the week after. On Wednesday August 21st they called me telling me it was complete and ready for pick up. Once again, I arrive and almost none of the things that were supposed to be fixed got fixed. I did a walk around with James and he seemed nonchalant and uncaring (or unsurprised) about the things not getting done.
Upon inspection I found a black paint marker they used to color in their overspray on my interior plastics instead of actually cleaning it off. They stained my leather and ALL the rubber trim seals. They said to leave it with them ONE more day and these things would be fixed. I came back on Thursday, August 22nd.
They STILL didnt fix these things and I was frustrated and just wanted to be done dealing with this bs unprofessional and traumatic stressful experience. They didnt fix the paint peel and James offered the excuse that they didnt want to put anymore paint on it for at least 30 days. My vehicle had brand new window tint on it from 08/2/24 and they scratched, gouged, and got blue paint on it. They sanded the screen on my display console/radio for some unknown dumb reason, they got paint on my leather on the door trim plus many other things that will need to be replaced.
This was a $40k car and they turned it into a bucket barely even worth $9k now. I said they needed to provide a discount for the damage for the vehicle and asked to talk to the manager and they said they dont offer discounts on things they can fix, so then why wasnt it fixed after 3 attempts? Upon paying, I asked to talk to Ian, the manager, and was told hes busy painting, were not going to bug him. So I was forced to accept this *** paint job AND the damage they did to my vehicle.
I brought my car today to 3 other paint shops to have them assess the damage and they all laughed at how terrible of a job MAACO did on it. I also got quotes from the Honda dealership of how much the parts and labor would cost to replace the items they damaged and so far were at roughly $13k. To have it repainted properly they all quoted me about $10-15k. MAACO DIDNT REMOVE ANYTHING TO PAINT.
That fact would be FINE if they actually taped off properly.
They have a fat lawsuit coming their way. My attorney is a heavy hitter.

More than once, I have had an estimate done on the Maaco site. Once I have taken the vehicle to the local Maaco, the estimate has increased by $200 to $500 dollars.
Why have this on the website if you are not going to live up to your own company's estimates? This is disappointing service.
- Convenience
- Prices quoted online are not honored
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Do not trust the estimate quoted online
Horrible paint horrible service
We have used in the past and they have done an OK job at repairs. My daughters car was in a small fender bender so we decided to go ahead and and have the car repainted while mako had the car upon their completion.
They did not put the reflective things on the bumper. Do the pinstriping looks like they didnt sandblast the roof before they repainted it.
You could see different layers of the paint and splatter all over the car so I called Ken the manager and nicely explained that these things needed to be fixed if he could do it his first words out of his mouth you do not tell me what to do. I could not believe a manager would say that I have called twice sent them two emails and Ive gotten zero calls back or emails back , this is absolutely pathetic
User's recommendation: Stay away do not ever use Mako for anything

Verified Reviewer |Not Satisfied with Job paint
I just picked up my Dodge Avenger from your shop at Skibo Road, Fayetteville, North Carolina.
I'm very disappointed because the new paint on the rear bumper is cracked and looks really bad.
I asked the Manager, Austin, and his Assistant why the paint job on the rear bumper was so poor, and they told me that I never asked to fix that problem. Come on...
the new paint is cracked, how would I have known that before you painted the car? Anyway, I think that $1300 is too much for a car that is not properly painted. The only thing that I want is for them to fix the rear bumper and make it look right.
I think Austin, the manager, is a good person but he did not address this issue properly. So, I left the shop with a bad paint job.
After more than two weeks with my car, I expected a better job.
Please, contact me. I need to fix this issue ASAP.
- Took my money very fast
- Do not take responsibility for a bad job
Preferred solution: Price reduction

Had a dent in the rear quarter panel and broken tail light and the bumper was cracked. I asked if they needed to replace bumper they said no they can fix it so I dropped it off three days later they said its ready. I get there and I can see a tapeline on the panel and the paint didnt match and then I looked around the tail light that they supposedly fixed and it looked like crap, so I left it there for another three days I come back and pick it up and all they did was redo the paint on the quarter panel so it matched but around the tail light it still look like crap so I was pissed inside started *** I use the F word quite a bit cause I use it all time , and tell me watch my language I told him to F off he gets in my face, tells me hes the owner and asked me if I wanna go outside so I get outside and he tells me to hit him cause he wants to punch me in the face and then hed have seven other guys that would come out and punch me in punch me so I went back inside the guy said the only way it could be perfect is if he replaced the bumper and the quarter panel for $2200 he said if I bought my own parts they would do it for 600 just for the paint so far Ive called customer service three times and gotten nothing back I rate this place 0

I have used maaco in the past and they did ok work. This time is was truly awful and the manager was even worst.
Small accident with my daughters car! Have used them in the past did ok work.
This time not so much. Did not put reflectors on bumper( was told it was extra) original part of car. Did not pin strip it, looks like they did not sand blast top of car see old paint lines, splatter of paint all over car looks awful. ( did not have high expectations).
I nicely pointed out these things that need to be fixed. He said you dont tell me what to do he was rude and arrogant. We just want the car fixed and not deal with this guy ever again.
Can someone help. No one has returned my call yet.

poor- no response
I made an appointment online and was there 10 minutes early this morning. I spoke with Patrick Larry who informed me the call center shouldn't be making appointments and he could not do any work on the vehicle today. The vehicle was painted at this location. We watched them sand the top and work on the vehicle.
It had been at the body shop next door prior. They are adamant that since the work was done through a body shop, they are not liable for a poor paint job and there is no warranty. Again, the work was done at this location using Maaco paint and equipment and labor. How is this not under any warranty?
Are you aware this location is doing jobs that they are not accounting for? I await your response before contacting the BBB.

My Toyota Highlander looks terrible. I paid for pearl white paint, which should look like a soft white with pearls.
It looks nothing like that. There is overspray all over the vehicle.

Avoid maaco!!!
They oversprayed our Tesla and made it two tone with two different colors.. THe manager guy is on record as sayig they totally dropped the ball on my car.
his solution is to "blend" the colors together. So, after he tries to fix his disaster, two colors remain on the car. Maaco doesnt seem to care. I was quoted $6000 to fix what they did and charged me $2500.
They stole my money and ruined our Tesla.

They won’t release vehicle till full payment. Why should I pay for an incomplete paint job?
Paint has blister, and waves. They sanded parts, yet Failed to paint these parts.
No, Yukon will not return to MAACO. Prefer a Kindergardrn class paint it.
Scheduled a paint and repair 30+ days ago. Delivered my Yukon on the 29th of April 2024.
It's been 13 days, and it is not finished. The excuses given: Office manager had a mental breakdown, painter was out due to surgery. The best excuse was that the Yukon had paint reactions like swelling and wrinkling. This morning's excuse was the best.
The part-time painter did not return from lunch.
I asked this morning for an additional 25% discount. This is wrong; I'm tired of the excuses.

Verified Reviewer |Not satisfied with services
I stopped by on Friday around 3:45 p.m. to pay for the repair services and arrange for the car pickup, but unfortunately, the shop was closed.
Upon inspecting the car, I noticed several issues that were not in line with my expectations, especially given the nearly $3,000 cost. The color on the door does not match the rest of the car, making it clear that an aftermarket, used door was used. This inconsistency is very noticeable and does not reflect the quality I anticipated. Additionally, the car appears as though it was driven through dirty water; it was clean when I brought it to your shop.
In the last email to the service manager, Nick, I had mentioned the internal issues I raised. However, I haven't received confirmation on whether these were addressed, despite my plan to have the car assessed by a mechanic. I hope we can resolve this situation satisfactorily, as I am not prepared to pay for the car in its current condition.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Best regards, Johnny Galarza.

I took my brand new 2024 Toyota Corolla Nightshade, which had not yet completed 4 payments, to the Maaco shop in Plano, TX. The insurance took care of the bill.
After waiting for 3 weeks to pick up the car, I found additional damage: a cracked windshield. They had charged the insurance for a new wheel and wheel alignment, but that work had not been done. My bumper was sliding down, the rocker had a chip in the paint, and there was paint overspray at the door. They had buffed the car so roughly and excessively that it left buffing mark impressions, and now the clear coat is chipping off.
They are now telling me it's going to take 2 or 3 additional days, with me having to get my own rental car.
I'm reaching out before I take this to small claims court. I have plenty of before and after pictures, and timestamped pictures that show my location during drop off and pick up.
