I brought a 2001 Toyota Tacoma in to have it painted and 2 minor body repairs on December 29, 2015 at Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting at 8100 North Rockwell.

I purchased the surface reconditioning package along with the next to highest quality paint job for the entire vehicle. After about 10 days, which is now about January 11, 2016, I stopped by to check the progress and saw that the truck had been painted. There was over spray on the driverโ€™s side outside mirror; one new chip in the new paint on the driverโ€™s side door, an area of about six inches square with over-spray and large drips that had run down the passenger door and dried. There were 2 large (1/4โ€) black spots that appeared to be debris that had settled on the paint and dried. After pointing this out one of the employees said it would be fixed. The repairs to the hood, and one to the left rear quarter panel were done to my satisfaction. OK good job.

I came back about a week later, January 18, and found that the over-sprayed area had been repaired and the 2 large spots had also been repaired. Good job; however, now there was a new large blemish on the same passenger door that had just had the 2 spots removed! And the chip on the driverโ€™s door had not been repaired. I pointed these shortcomings out to the same employee that I had spoken to previously and asked if the people repairing my truck ever inspected their work. In my opinion they either do not look at their work, or they donโ€™t care if it is poorly done. He said they would make the necessary adjustments. I came back on January 27 and asked to see the manager. We both inspected the vehicle, and again, I had to point out the two areas that needed to be repaired. I was also upset about this whole incident and let him know my dissatisfaction with this business. He took tape and marked the two areas and said he would call me by Friday, January 29th. No call was forthcoming; an added note, they have never called me about anything.

It appears to me that this business runs vehicles through as quickly as possible hoping that any shoddy workmanship will be over looked by the customer. And when I say obvious, I mean flaws that stand out from several feet away, someone that paints cars would see these immediately. The other tactic is to keep the vehicle for as long as possible to โ€œwearโ€ the customer down; they have had my truck for over 30 days now.

I would not recommend this business to anyone and was told by my mechanic that he had similar problems at this establishment.

And the last straw, they over looked locking my vehicle several times at night, I know, I came by several times to retrieve paperwork; granted there was nothing to steal except a jack but at least go through the motions of providing security for unattended vehicles.

Reason of review: Bad quality.
